The International Rose Test Garden is located within Washington Park, adjacent to the start of the Wildwood Trail and Vietnam Memorial. Since opening in 1917, more than 10,000 rose bushes and 650 varieties of roses are present for visitors to enjoy from spring to autumn. A vast array of rose cultivars are sent to this test garden from all over the world to study and evaluate their bloom, color, fragrance and disease resistant properties.

In 1915, the president of Portland's Rose Society convinced the city of Portland to establish this rose garden to serve as a refuge for World War I hybrid grown European roses out of fear they would be destroyed in the bombings. It is the oldest continuously operating public rose test garden in the United States, drawing more than 700,000 visitors each year, living up to Portland's nickname "City of Roses".

Weird wick

This candle smells amazing but something wasn’t right with the wooden wick, like it hadn’t been treated before being set and was barely holding a flame. I put my own waxed wooden wick in and now it’s burning like normal. For 30$ I’d expect better.

Hello Hazel,
We emailed you to try to resolve this matter. Thank you for your feedback on the Rose Garden candle. It sincerely isn't our intention for you to have a candle that won't hold flame. Because the wood wick is a natural product and there can be variations out of our control in the quality of the batches we get from our supplier, once in a blue moon it won't behave as we intend to. Could you please provide where you purchased the candle from, and around what date? Also, did it hold a flame on the first burn, but subsequent burns it didn't as well? I just want to make sure you had a chance to review our candle care tips page, particularly in regards to trimming the wick between burns, as the excess burnt untrimmed wood is usually the culprit for the wick not holding flame. The more information you can provide will truly be helpful. Thank you!

Perfect Balance

The rose garden scent strikes the perfect balance between floral, but not too floral. It’s hard to find rose scents that don’t seem artificial. Not this one. It’s spot on. I was gifted this candle and have already reordered it twice.

Soft and subtle

My favorite scent so far . The scent is not overbearing and smells like a lovely rose garden . I am sensitive to scents and this one does not give me a head ache .

Amazing

I purchased the Rose Garden candle at a small shop in PDX before flying back to the Midwest. The smell is heavenly and reminds me of my mother's rose garden when I was a kid. I love having a piece of home here in Ohio.

Lovely, like being in the rose garden

I just discovered you and had to order something so I chose Rose Garden. It's a lovely rose that makes me feel like I'm in the Rose Garden when everything is in bloom. Lightning fast shipping, great smell. 10/10.
